What does FSC stand for?

FSC stands for Forest Stewardship Council®, an international non-governmental organisation that works to promote the environmentally, socially and economically sustainable use of the world's forests. FSC is a labelling scheme for wood and paper. In short, the certificate means that in an FSC forest no more wood is cut than the forest can reproduce. In addition, the label ensures that plant and animal life is protected and that the people who work in the forest are guaranteed decent working conditions. In this way, the FSC also guarantees social responsibility towards the local population in the areas. The FSC is present in more than 100 countries and its work is supported by several major environmental organisations.
